This is where the disagreement pivots. In other domains, good explanations are embraced as highly productive constraints. For example, a new theory of quantum gravity is constrained by relativity and quantum mechanics. When discovered, that new theory won’t be less general than the prior knowledge. And it’s more likely to be true.

It’s by that reasoning that physical laws are incorporated into machine learning systems. Will we start to see the same trend in other domains?
