“Technology can’t solve every problem.” Technology doesn’t solve problems. People solve problems.

So it can’t be the case that, “underpopulation is a welcome solution to the promised apocalypse.” People have dramatically improved living conditions around the world. There will always be more work to be done, but people are the means to solutions.

Despite the overwhelming evidence that their prophesies were incorrect, Malthusians continue to miss the point. They are systematically pessimistic about the ability of people to solve problems.
