I’ve been exploring this question as well. My synthesis to this point suggests that it’s the values and methods of science that persuade and unify communities over time, as opposed to specific theories or evidence. The latter is always provisional and subject to change (and as you highlighted, may be weaponized in a debate).

Thanks again for sharing your story. There’s too much anger and confrontation in denialism, and not enough listening.
